Powerade – Check it out!

www.youtube.com/Powerade

This channel’s been up for a while. It was a campaign for the 2010 world cup. I was responsible for the sound design in most of the “inner thoughts” that are interspersed throughout the main film. Discover them all and enjoy.

A bit unfortunate…but it’s all good!

Metempsychosis is part of computer arts magazine this month! You can look for the piece on issue 174. Unfortunately, the piece included on the output cd that comes with the mag is an old version and does not include the soundtrack I produced for it. No matter though, you can check it out in vimeo in its full glory! Who uses CDs lately anyways?

Latest Audio Work. Metempsychosis.

I was asked last week by FX artist Alain Lores, to contribute for a piece called Metempsychosis. He had done this experimental piece about 3 months ago, and it’s a mesmerizing display of fire, glass and light. Truly fantastic to watch. The soundtrack I created in a couple of sessions, was incredibly fun to create. I had never done anything experimental before, so I took an approach of anything goes, space-opera kind of thing with ominous strings and sci-fi sound effects. (including a very dear industrial refrigerator which I pitch bent and added effects to it on 00:14, I’ve used that one in some form in other projects).

Thank you Alain for the opportunity to work on this. It is truly a privilege.

Check it out!

Here’s a link to Alain’s Vimeo page.

Well, it’s been a while…

It’s time to revive this thing. Recently I’ve been busy with some work, and these projects have required me to dive further into sound design and composition.

Soon I will post some links here to my most recent projects, including a very special piece I had the honor to work in.

Stay tuned!

Electromotive assignment #3: “Run on Clouds”

This is my take on assignment #3. The object of the assignment was to take a piece of footage and enhance it with motion graphics. So I took the footage of a girl running and made her run on clouds. Naturally, to make a point out of it, this turned into an unofficial “Nike ACG” commercial. Now, I have no clue what the ACG brand of Nike is, apparently it stands for All Condition Gear, but I thought the logo was cool so I put it in there.

I also discovered Motion Tracking in After Effects. I had seen that effect just floating around and I wanted to give it a shot…it is quite a delight to know that AE will just do that for ya with just a few steps. It’s very easy to use and I can’t wait to do more with it.

I learned a lot making this one, especially and more importantly, how to deal with limitations and how they ultimately drive an idea through to the end. Limitations? Bring ’em on I say!

By the way, the name of the song is Rebellion(Lies) by The Arcade Fire.

things we gawk at: “Vimeo”

Yeah. We switched to vimeo.com for uploading our videos. Their quality is so crisp you just can’t deny it, and that, makes us happy.

Electromotive Assignment #3. Video Compositing.

It’s time for assignment #3!

Today we decided on our next assignment and it’s video compositing. We take a piece of footage, and lay some motion graphics on top of it to enhance it. Sounds like electromotive material to me!

Deadline for this one: September 29th, 2008.

Assignment #2: Electromotive ID. “Engine”

This is my entry for electromotive’s second assignment.
Since electromotive’s name evokes of something mechanical, I decided to go with a complex look of wires, and things that ultimately I would not understand if I saw them in real life… I know it’s some kind of engine, but that pipe over there that connects to this square thing? No idea what it does. Anyways. Here it is, enjoy.

Electromotive Assignment #2: Electromotive Ident.

Well, it’s time for another assignment!

This time around, we do a little self-promotion. I mean, why not? Electromotive deserves its own voice, so this week we each decided to make Electromotive’s ID.

This assignment is a little bit more complex because it involves, logo design and well…it’s a huge commitment…this is what is going to define Electromotive from now on, so it better look good!

There are no restrictions to this assignment other than “Let’s not make it very long…Something that you can throw at the end of a video”, said Dustin.

I happen to agree so, let’s do it! 🙂

Deadline, EDIT: Monday September 15th. (You know…so we can have the weekend) 😉

PS: Dustin’s piece for assignment #1 should be up pretty soon, so stay tuned!
