I’m a sucker for super slow motion camera. And car crashes. And bizarre things. This one…brings all that in…and is all kinds of awesome!

Check out this short animated film by Grzegorz Jonkajtys. It won best in show at SIGGRAPH 2007 and with good reason…Just about everything is perfect about this film…The textures…the animation, the mattes, the camera…and as if that wasn’t enough … the storyline…Today this piece came out of my screen and slapped me in the face.
You can watch it here, but do yourself a favor and watch it in HD.
Awesome little teaser for Quantum of Solace, coming out October 31st. It’s a little homage to classic Double Oh Seven titles, and a nice little promotion for Coke Zero. Well done. By Buck.
Shilo for Saatchi + Saatchi made this possible for Guinness. Their latest commercial depicts the compelling monologue of a man accompanied by gorgeous literal graphical interpretations of his speech.
I’ve always been a big fan of Shilo, I bought their monograph some time ago and it has a pretty interesting compilation of their works. You should also check out their We Make It Good blog and their site. Very impressive.
Wow…Psyop does it again. Quite a promo done for the NFL Mobile live for Sprint… a service that gives you live audio broadcasts of every game and stats right on your phone. Excellent 3D work and awesome execution. Bravo Psyop.
Mirror’s Edge is a brand new game coming this fall. It looks like it is like no other game anybody’s ever played because of its approach to FPS shooters. It’s based on free-running, and focuses on melee more than gunplay. Now that you know what Mirror’s Edge is, take a look at these promotional pieces. Each one elaborates on the other about the story of the game and “Faith”, the game’s character. Both have different animation styles and yes…worthy of a “things we gawk at” post.
This is I think very appropriate with the kind of weather we’re having around here. A friend of mine pointed me out to the remix of singin’ in the rain by mint royale and of course I instantly recognized the tune. It was used on one of my favorite VW commercials where they made Gene Kelly bust out like crazy. Turns out Mint Royale has a nice little video to accompany their remix too…here’s both of them
The VW commercial:
This is my take on assignment #3. The object of the assignment was to take a piece of footage and enhance it with motion graphics. So I took the footage of a girl running and made her run on clouds. Naturally, to make a point out of it, this turned into an unofficial “Nike ACG” commercial. Now, I have no clue what the ACG brand of Nike is, apparently it stands for All Condition Gear, but I thought the logo was cool so I put it in there.
I also discovered Motion Tracking in After Effects. I had seen that effect just floating around and I wanted to give it a shot…it is quite a delight to know that AE will just do that for ya with just a few steps. It’s very easy to use and I can’t wait to do more with it.
I learned a lot making this one, especially and more importantly, how to deal with limitations and how they ultimately drive an idea through to the end. Limitations? Bring ‘em on I say!
By the way, the name of the song is Rebellion(Lies) by The Arcade Fire.
This is such a good piece by Santa Monica based King and Country. “The Ride” is about an idea from conception to release. It was made for self promotion and it’s their first internal piece. You need to have a look.
By the way, “King and Country”, your name is dope.
I totally forgot about this:
“Psst…Pass it on” is a little project that got started in 2006. It’s like a little game of telephone applied to the art of motion design. They choose a theme, and have different teams elaborate and interpret on one piece, to produce original content. Today I saw a link for this great video by Over The Rhine for their song “Desperate for love”, that was produced by Psst…Pass it on. Peep it down here:
Also check out previous Psst…Pass it on stuff…Such a great idea!
They have that same video in great quality.
This is also a clip from Psst #2, I love it how different and at the same time how cohesive the styles are in their work:
We look forward for the next one coming out in November.
